Five artists killing it on social media.

I am excited to introduce you to some of my current favourite illustration accounts! Its incredible how small businesses have begun to thrive during a what has been an unquestionably, difficult year. These accounts have found business in passion, turning a hobby in to an income. Something both enviable and commendable.

Poppydot Paintings

This incredible account transforms your favourite photos into beautifully, illustrated keepsakes. The work is created in pen and ink, resulting in vibrant paintings capturing significant moments in your life.

Poppydot’s Instagram success is well deserved. Her illustrations are well sort after with any release onto her Etsy selling out within minutes. To get your hands on one of her pieces, you’ve got to be quick; turn on your post notifications and be ready to add to your cart!

This amazing illustrator also sells prints. Her Give Bees a Chance is one of my personal favourites. The sale of this print also gives a donation to the Bumble Bee Conservation Trust.

I have had the pleasure of watching this amazing account grow. When I first followed Chloe, she had just 500 followers, this has quickly escalated to almost 2000. Chloe is a fantastic illustrator with an eye for design. Her beautiful pet portraits and travel illustrations are highly sort after and make wonderful gifts.

Amazingly, Chloe has found time in her busy schedule to produce one off illustrations of some of her favourite UK destinations. These are sold mounted and framed and decorated with gold ink.

Undoubtedly one of my favourite Instagram accounts, Georgie captures the serenity of Cornwall in her seascapes.

Her newest collection, Ocean Serenity, shows the elevation of her talent as she progresses with her career. The incredible paintings of dolphins, dancing beneath the waves, capture a powerful sense of peace.

Gee sells her work on her website, where you can purchase both the original paintings and prints to reconnect with nature inside the comfort of your home.

Just as the username suggests, this account recreates your homes in intricate ink. Abi has a talent for creating illustrative architecture with an enviable level of focus; drawing every brick, window and leaf that makes your house a home.

Recently, her portfolio has expanded to accommodate Christmas developing a much-loved product. She has created a line of personalized wooden baubles which capture the intricacies of a building as effectively as her large-scale pieces. My personal favourite? Two of her original paintings of Hogwarts and Privet drive. They so successfully recreate the Harry Potter movies, JK Rowling could have overseen them herself.

Ella Ruth

Ella’s account has expanded throughout lockdown and into 2021. The account is focused on commissions, the work varying from travel illustrations and recreating beloved holiday destinations to pet portraits, building portraits and a small collection of travel inspired prints.

The development of her style is easy to see. Moving from watercolour to gouache as her painting strengthens.

Ella is currently working on a new collection of illustrations based on her personal travels, focusing on her time in Southeast Asia. Its definitely one to watch!
